John Manes is CEO and co-owner of Pinnacle Storage Properties and Pinnacle Storage Managers. John is responsible for driving the culture, direction and overall operation of the organization. He has been involved in self storage since 2005 serving in multiple executive level rolls. 

 

Prior to starting his own self storage real estate investment company John most recently served as Chief Operating Officer for The Jenkins Organization (TJO), a fully integrated real estate company specializing in the self-storage industry. As the COO, John’s primary function was to oversee all home office and field operations. 

 

John joined TJO in 2011 after serving as one of 3 Regional Vice Presidents with Uncle Bob’s Self-Storage (now Life Storage), one of the five publicly traded Self-Storage REITs. John began at Uncle Bob’s as a District Manager in 2005 overseeing the Austin and San Antonio markets and in 2009 was promoted to one of three Regional Vice Presidents. In this capacity, John was responsible for the performance of over 120 properties and 200 employees. For three consecutive years, John had the best performing region in the portfolio. He is a former board member of the Texas Self Storage Association, where he has served on a number of TSSA committees and chaired the Education Committee in 2018.

He currently manages a portfolio of 80 buildings, valued over $300 MM. Preston is currently building a 61 unit mid-rise multi-family project, in permit for a 53-unit site and renovating several existing value-add multi-family properties in Seattle. His primary focus is on growing 3rd Party Property Management services, as well as sourcing investors for future syndication opportunities.

Preston has managed syndication projects requiring equity capital, negotiating terms and partnership agreements, partitioning risk, and managing equity and debt offerings to investors. He has also served as the project manager for dozens of building renovations.

Preston obtained a B.A. with a double major in Economics and English from Colgate University. He has served on boards and advisory councils, including Discovery Montessori, Lakeside School and the GoodTimes Project. Preston is also a contributing member of the Forbes Real Estate Council and Puget Sound Business Journal Leadership Trust.

In his free time, Preston can be found fishing, boating, wakesurfing, skiing, and spending time with his two children. In November 2019, Eliza Zhang reached her Fat FI (Financial Independence) in less than 10 years from the time she started investing in Real Estate.

Elisa grew up in China sharing a studio of 80 square feet with her aunt’s family. Brought up in traditional Asian cultural, they did not talk about money.  Elisa took many scenic routes on her way to FI due to all those traditional “money is evil” thoughts engraved in her brain. During those 10 years, she was the only earner for her family of four. She had 2 beautiful babies. They were her inspiration to choose the less traveled path to become financially free. Despite all the disadvantages, she got there in less than 10 years. During those 10 years, she was able to build and control a multifamily portfolio of 2000+ units to replace her $200k a year 9-5 job.

Elisa credits her success to many people in her life and several inner circle communities that she built and remains a part of.   She wants to give forward now and dedicate her time to create a financially savvy, highly accountable and motivated community for those who want to follow her path to financial freedom in 10 years or less.
